This policy explains what information Kiosc collects, why, and how it's used both for merchants running a store on Kiosc and for the customers who shop on those stores. Kiosc operates the platform; each store you see hosted on Kiosc is independently run by the merchant who owns it.
1. Information we collect
From merchants: account details (name, email, phone), business information (store name, category, address, country), and anything you upload to build your storefront (logo, banner, product images and descriptions).
From shoppers on a Kiosc-hosted store: name, email, phone, and delivery address provided at checkout; order history on that specific store; and, if you create a customer account, your login credentials.
Automatically: basic device and usage information (browser type, pages visited, approximate location from IP) used for security, fraud prevention, and understanding how the platform is used.
2. What we don't collect
Kiosc does not process or store your full payment card details. When you pay a merchant at checkout, you're paying through that merchant's own connected payment provider (such as Paystack or Flutterwave) Kiosc never holds or moves that money, and card data is handled entirely by the payment provider, not by Kiosc's own servers.
3. How we use information
- To operate your storefront or your order processing checkouts, sending order confirmations, and enabling merchant/customer accounts.
- To bill for a Kiosc subscription plan, where applicable this is a separate charge from anything you pay a merchant, and is processed through Kiosc's own platform payment credentials, never a merchant's connected account.
- To register and manage a domain name on your behalf, where you've purchased or claimed one through Kiosc this requires sharing limited registrant details with the relevant domain registrar, as required by domain registration rules.
- To send service communications order updates, security alerts, and notices about your account or subscription. These aren't optional the way marketing email is.
- To keep the platform secure detecting abuse, fraud, and misuse across merchant stores.
4. Who we share information with
Kiosc shares information only where it's genuinely needed to provide the service:
- Payment providers (e.g. Paystack, Flutterwave) to process a checkout or a Kiosc subscription payment.
- Domain registrars (e.g. OpenSRS) to register or renew a domain you've bought or claimed through Kiosc.
- Infrastructure providers hosting, storage, and email delivery needed to run the platform.
- The merchant you're shopping with if you're a customer, the store owner can see the order and contact details needed to fulfil your order.
Kiosc does not sell personal information to third parties.
5. Cookies
Kiosc uses cookies to keep you signed in, remember your cart on a storefront, and understand basic usage of the platform. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of Kiosc (like staying logged in) won't work properly without them.
6. Data retention
We keep account and order data for as long as the related account or store is active, and for a reasonable period after to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. You can ask us to delete personal data we hold about you, subject to what we're legally required to keep.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you're located, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these, contact us at [email protected].
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, notify merchants directly.
