A market stall, a broken checkout process, and a better idea
Most independent merchants across Africa start selling long before they have a website a phone number, a social media page, a bit of word of mouth. That works, until it doesn't: orders get lost in DMs, there's no real catalog to send people to, and every serious customer eventually asks "do you have a website?"
The tools that existed to answer that question were built for someone else generic templates, awkward checkout, no real support for how people actually pay and ship in the markets we sell in. Kiosc started as a weekend build to solve one seller's problem. It didn't stay small for long.
A storefront platform, one focus: keep it simple
Kiosc is a platform where the themes are genuinely premium, the checkout is yours (your own payment account, your own money, settling directly to you), and going live takes minutes, not weeks. We measure success the same way we did on day one: can a merchant go from nothing to open for business without calling anyone for help.
That constraint shapes everything we build.
